Botox, a botulinum toxin, blocks the nerve signals that make muscles contract. This action makes Botox perfect for treating:
- Frown lines (worry lines between your eyebrows)
- Crow’s feet (smile lines on the sides of your eyes)
- Forehead furrows (deep creases along your forehead)
- Bunny lines (line along the sides of your upper nose)
These wrinkles develop over years of using specific muscles to make facial expressions. After your provider injects Botox, the muscles relax, and the wrinkle disappears.
The wrinkles fade away 3-7 days after your treatment, and the results last up to four months. You can have another Botox treatment when the effects wear off.
What is the difference between Botox and fillers?
Dermal fillers treat wrinkles that Botox can’t help. They also improve other aesthetic concerns. You may decide to use Botox and fillers to:
- Erase wrinkles around your mouth and nose
- Diminish small, vertical lip lines (smoker’s wrinkles)
- Restore cheek volume
- Lift your cheeks
- Enhance and reshape your lips
- Reshape your chin
- Improve facial symmetry
- Fill in scars
Prime Wellness uses several brands of dermal fillers, Juvéderm® and Restylane®. Both brands have several different fillers. They all consist of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally produced in your body that keeps your skin moist, but they’re formulated to be different thicknesses.
For those who are looking to improve collagen, we utilize Radiesse and Radiesse Plus which contains Calcium Hydroxylapatite. This main ingredient helps the body to produce and build collagen naturally. This filler actually works to help your body produce its own natural filler!
Do chemical peels affect Botox and fillers?
Chemical peels remove one or more layers of skin. A light peel exfoliates, removing only the outer layer. This peel is so gentle that you can repeat it regularly to maintain healthy skin.
Medium and deep peels go progressively deeper, with the strongest chemicals removing numerous layers.
Your peel may treat:
- Dry, dull-looking skin
- Clogged pores and blemishes
- Red and discolored skin
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Uneven skin texture
- Acne and acne scarring
- Sun damage, age spots, and other skin discolorations
Each peel has a different recovery time, ranging from no downtime after a light peel to needing at least two weeks to recover following a deep peel.
Chemical peels can affect Botox and fillers. Lighter chemical peels are generally ok to have with Botox, while for heavier peels, it is better to wait a few days after the Botox treatment. All chemical peels elicit some inflammation and have a theoretical risk of degradation of the filler.
Can I get a chemical peel after Botox and fillers?
If you just had Botox or injectable fillers, it’s fine to have a chemical peel after. You’ll want to wait at least 24 hours after Botox and fillers before getting any rejuvenating skin treatments for the best results.
No matter your skin problem, you can improve your appearance with medical aesthetics. Book an appointment online or call Prime Wellness today.
